Safi Sana’s milestones in 2015

Sourcing solid waste from food markets

As 2015 draws to a close, we wanted to look back on the year’s achievements.

In 2015, Safi Sana worked hard to scale up the sourcing of solid waste from food markets. The mix of solid waste with faecal waste is a key factor in maximising energy production and fertiliser quality.

Safi Sana also began developing of a software tool for baseline surveys and monitoring. This will help us with remote management and support as well as providing real-time updates on programme impact.

During the Amsterdam World Water Week in November 2015, we received we the prestigious Sarphati Sanitation Award for young entrepreneurs from the Mayor of Amsterdam. This was a fantastic achievement for us, which recognised our perseverance in achieving Safi Sana’s goals, and gave us even more motivation to carry on with our work.

At the end of 2015, the first stone was laid for our first full-scale commercial factory in Ashaiman, Ghana.
