On Friday 13th July, Safi Sana Ghana was pleased to host a visit for the Container-Based Sanitation Alliance. Representatives from Sanergy, SOIL, Sanivation and Loowatt were given a tour of Safi Sana’s factory and facilities in Ashaiman and took part in discussions about New Sanitation systems, sharing ideas and challenges in order to improve the efficiency of their activities.

During the tour our Country Manager, Raymond, answered the group’s questions about Safi Sana’s capacity, how many tons of waste are processed, and how much compost and electricity are produced per day.

Visiting the factory

Similarly to Safi Sana, the other organizations reported challenges with regard to sales of their organic fertilizer for the same reasons: firstly, because synthetic fertilizer yields fast results in the field, and secondly, because farmers are not familiar with organic fertilizer. We then discussed marketing strategies for the organic fertilizer, and how best to engage the target market of farmers.

Thank you to everyone who travelled over to Ghana to take part in the visit. It was a pleasure to have you with us and learn more about the excellent work you are doing!

Safi Sana, Sanergy and Sanivation were all part of the Toilet Board Coalition last year.
